You will love working with this multicolored banana fiber yarn. It is so soft. Even softer than silk. Your project will look and feel like a piece of luxury. Try it out on your next project whether that be weaving, crocheting or knitting.
Banana fiber is a renewable resource. The decaying outer layer of the trees are harvested and soaked in water. When all of the chlorophyll structures are dissolved, the cellulose fibers remain. These are extruded into a pulp and made suitable for spinning into yarn.
The yarn is then handspun in the homes of women in Nepal who live in severe poverty. Supporting these women allows them to provide for their family and to afford to pay for an education for their children.
